Stem Cell Therapy
Dr. Michael Skaliy is one of a select group of physicians in the United States currently offering stem cell therapy. Over the past decade, physicians like Dr. Skaliy have used stem cells to successfully treat 65 different medical issues including back pain, degenerative disc disease, hip pain, knee pain, joint inflammation, sciatica, and even thinning hair.
Stem Cell Treatment is successful in treating pain, because, unlike other pain remedies, stem cells have the ability to not only relieve the pain but also heal the damage causing the pain. This is because stems cells don’t just hide or block the pain. Stem cells repair and replace damaged cells with new, healthy cells. This means significant, long-term pain relief for the vast majority of patients who choose stem cell treatment. In fact, up to 90 percent of patients who receive stem cell treatment report either a dramatic reduction in or the complete elimination of pain associated with joint injury or degenerative disease.

Stem Cell Therapy uses your body’s own natural healing mechanisms and growth factors to repair or replace cells damaged by injury or use. Stem Cell injections provide long-lasting relief from chronic joint pain and effectively regenerate cells that result in true healing when used in the treatment of conditions or symptoms including the following:

Research and application has proven, time and again, that somatic stem cells are as effective as embryonic stem cells in cell repair and regeneration.
What should you expect after stem cell treatment?
While the stem cells begin regenerating and repairing right away, the process does take some time. Most patients report gradual pain relief, beginning about a month after the treatment. In two to four months, you should experience significant pain relief, which will continue to increase for up to six months after the initial procedure.
Because of this continual regeneration, patients who receive stem cell treatment often delay surgery for many years, sometimes even longer. And, because stem cell therapy heals damaged cells, rather than masking the pain, many patients no longer need surgery at all.
“My stem cell treatment procedure was the simplest and least invasive procedure that I have ever had. From check in to check out, everything was done to make sure I was comfortable. My knee had been hurting for a long time and it felt better within weeks and I am now pain free. I can now do all the activities that I have not been able to do for years. Thank you Dr. Skaliy.” — Mr. Jay M.
Patients who choose Stem Cell Therapy to slow hair loss and regrow new hair should expect a similar timeline of effectiveness. While the stem cells start working right away, it takes time to re-activate or regenerate new follicle cells.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A STEM CELL THERAPY PROCEDURE?
The procedure begins with a physical examination, followed by medical imaging tests to identify the source of the pain.
To harvest the stem cells, our medical team will apply a local anesthetic to the harvest area.
Once the area is numb, Dr. Skaliy uses a syringe to aspirate a small amount of adipose (fat) tissue or bone marrow. We harvest bone marrow stem cells from the back of the hip and adipose stem cells from the abdomen or buttocks. The source of the stem cells is determined according to the unique needs of each patient. Because there are typically more stem cells in fat tissue, that is our preferred option.
The adipose tissue is then placed in a specially-designed medical centrifuge, so the stem cells can be isolated for re-injection. After they are isolated, the patient’s stem cells are injected into the desired area. Because the stem cells are taken from the patient receiving treatment, the risk of rejection or other side-effects is very low. The entire procedure takes about two hours, and the patient can go home the same day.

Stem Cell Therapy Truly Is A Medical Breakthrough
Over the decades, I have seen some incredible medical breakthroughs. However, I can say without exaggeration or reservation, that no treatment option I’ve ever seen excites me as much as stem cell therapy.
Stem cell therapy is a truly regenerative treatment for people in pain. This treatment really can reduce and even eliminate many causes of severe or chronic hip, knee, shoulder, back and joint pain. For many years, due to limits in our understanding and technology, pain had to be treated as a symptom without a cure. We could dull the pain, but stopping the pain entirely was out of reach. As a last resort, we could replace a damaged joint, but we could not regenerate damaged cells. Through stem cell therapy, we can.
Through regenerative medical treatments such as minimally-invasive orthopedic (hip, back, and knee) surgery and stem cell therapy, I am able to treat the condition causing the pain, offering, safe, long-term help for my patients. Better still, we are able to offer these proven treatments as same-day, outpatient procedures in our state-of-the-art surgery center, under the constant care of our highly-skilled nursing staff.
My staff and I are passionate about helping patients in pain, and the first step in this process is to provide you with the information you need to make the best decision for your personal medical treatment. This is why I produced this content. I want my patients to be fully informed, to understand their options, and to be entirely confident they are making the best medical decisions based on that understanding.
We developed the information on this site to be a go-to resource on the exciting science of stem cells, to answer important questions, and address common concerns, while arming you with the information you need to spot less-effective treatments and avoid getting caught up in scams or bait-and-switch “treatments” that masquerade as stem cell therapy without offering the long-term, life-changing benefits of the real deal.
